Rescuers were called to the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge in Grant County late Friday night after a canoe overturned.

A family fishing trip north of the Tri-Cities for a father and his three sons ended Friday, with one boy dead, one hospitalized, and their father and the third child disappeared.
The father took the boys in a canoe to one of the flowing lakes Columbia National Wildlife Refuge in Grant County, Washington. The refuge is about 55 miles north of Pasco.
When they didn’t return to Othello’s home that night, other family members went to the shelter to look for them, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
They found the eldest, 10 years old, on the shore only around 11:00 p.m. and called rescuers for help.
The boy made it to shore after the canoe capsized before nightfall, the sheriff said.
Rescuers found the body of an 8-year-old boy at night.
The search for the 32-year-old father and 6-year-old boy resumed around 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
Columbia Basin Dive Rescue searched the water and a drone was used to scan the water and shoreline, according to the sheriff’s office.
A 10-year-old child was hospitalized for hypothermia at Samaritan Healthcare in Moses Lake.
Names are being withheld while the search continues.
