A woman’s friend was shot dead while protecting her from a man she turned down near a bar in San Antonio, Texas, police told news agencies.

A woman came out of a sports bar on the 2,800th block of North St. Mary’s Street around 2 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, and was approached by a man who went to herreports KENS.

She made it clear that she was not interested, and man, angry at the refusalgrabbed a gun from the car and returned, making at least one shot in the air, KSAT police said.

The woman was waiting for the trip from some friends, and at that point they arrived, according to WOAI.

Two men, friends of the woman, blamed the suspect, who then opened fire, fatally hitting one and injuring another, the newspaper reported.

Police said a security guard and the first officer in charge of the scene subdued an armed man and he was taken into custody, KENS reported.
