According to local media reports, Texas police are worried that the driver, who received shots in the back, may face paralysis.

Houston Police Department officers were called in to shoot at 11900 quarter Overbrook Lane in the western part of the city late on Thursday, March 3, reported on Twitter and news agencies. Police said Fr. a woman who was in a car was shot dead.

When police arrived, they found that the woman was shot in the back one of several bullets that were fired in her direction and her car crashed, the KPRC reports.

The woman was hospitalized, the agency said on Twitter.

“The worst thing about it now is that she does not feel her feet so we are very concerned that she may be paralyzed, but we know she has to live, ”Lt. Ronnie Wilkens told The Houston Chronicle.

A 22-year-old woman told police believes it was an accident shooting, KTRK reports, although the incident continues to be investigated.

Police did not identify the suspect, saying the shooter had fled before officers arrived, the Chronicle reported.

“There are a lot of pistol shells everywhere,” Wilkens said, according to KPRC. “But officers at the scene believe they found real pistol shells that were (used) in the shooting, so hopefully they’ll find something in that, too.”
