The spectacular crustacean catch stunned a New Hampshire captain and thousands of people online when they saw the photos.
Jake Eaton was in Portsmouth on January 19 when he was caught an extraordinary blue lobster – even the creatures’ eyes were blue.
Rumor has it that they are blue lobsters rare, one in 100 million chance catch one, McClatchy News previously reported.
“(I don’t know) if they are as rare as they say, but definitely not something you catch very often,” Eaton said on Facebook.
Ethan shared the photos on a New Hampshire Facebook Group Page, which has more than 2,000 likes. According to his estimates, the lobster was about 7-8 years old.
Many were concerned that the fisherman had kept the lobster, but Ethan assured the group that it had been cut up and released back into the wild.
