LONDON (AP) – Arsenal continued to move in the right direction in the top four in the Premier League when the winner of the last breath secured a 2-1 victory over the Wolves on Wednesday.
The Gunners were looking to lose ground on the sidelines after the Wolves were brought out early, but Alexander Lacazette’s effort in the 95th minute was hammered into his own goal by goalkeeper Jose Sa to complete the comeback.
Hwang Hee-chan took advantage of an unsuccessful pass from defender Gabriel and scored an empty net in the 10th minute, which put the Wolves on a course to jump Arsenal to fifth place.
But record-breaking club Nicolas Pepe came off the bench, scoring his first goal of the season in the Premier League with a smart turn and finishing 82nd. And Pepe became the provider at the injured time, exchanging passes with Lacazette to kill the French striker at the gate. His shot seemed to be sincere, but bounced off Sa’s outstretched hand into the net to complete the turnaround for Michel Arteta’s team, which now lags behind Manchester United, which is in fourth place, with two games left.
For the “Wolves” it was the first time since November 2018, when they lost in the league after scoring the first goal – a series of 45 matches.
