Donate to the annual Food Appeal from June 5 to 11

Each week during the school year, dozens of volunteers fill more than 850 bags of non-perishable food, which are delivered to schools on Thursdays to provide families with basic necessities for two meals a day on the weekend.

Today, in Clark County, one in four people doesn’t know where his next meal will come from. Share’s food and nutrition programs help meet this need with our Backpack, Fresh Food Cake, Chest of Drawers, Summer Dining, Outreach, and Hot Food programs, which share more than 1.2 million pounds of food each year. You can help with donations for the annual Share Appeal June 5-11 at

“Shares nutrition and nutrition programs provide food and nutrition to thousands of people each year. Among them are individuals and families who work but still cannot earn enough money to make ends meet, as well as those who feel homeless, ”said Diane McVitay, executive director. “Family budgets remain tight. Food that comes home with children through our Backpack and Fresh Food Pantry programs means not only nutritious food, but also less stress for parents. ”

The Share Food Appeal officially kicks off on Thursday, June 2, with Food Drive from noon to 6pm at the Share Fromhold Service Center, 2306 NE Andresen Road. The financial appeal takes place from June 5 to 11, donations online can also be made through the website; select “Return to Food” under the program name. Donors can also send a check in support of the campaign: Share, Attn: Appeal for Meals, 2306 NE Andresen Road, Vancouver, WA 98661.

All donations will be covered up to $ 78,000 thanks to eligible donors this year: Jan and Steve Oliva, KMR Group Foundation, New Seasons Market Fisher’s Landing, Tod and Maxine McClaskey Family Foundation, OnPoint Community Credit Union, Pacific Premier Bank, Diane Kimmel, NW Nutrition Chapter 17, Helen Tollman and Anonymous Donor.

This year’s new Share has launched a micro-site to talk about the constant need for food care that people and families face right here in our community. The site features videos, honors our relevant donors, presents a list of products that are most needed, and highlights programs that will benefit from your gift. Donations will be updated in the site’s progress bar so donors can see how close Share is to achieving our match goal.
