(CNN) — There is no way to create a Kobe Bryant autograph.

Sotheby’s took the interim MVP award for Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers, and earned US$7 million.

The five-time NBA champion wore a jersey signed by more than 25 brands during the 2007-2008 season. In fact, it’s the same thing he’s wearing in the already iconic photo as he grabs his shirt and screams with emotion after getting a 14-point advantage over the Denver Nuggets in the second game of the Western Conference Primera Round series.

The emblematic camiseta of Kobe Bryant and the Lakers will be auctioned.

“This shirt has influenced popular culture as rarely seen in the sports community, becoming an icon and synonymous with the image of Kobe Bryant,” said Sotheby’s in a press release. “Passion in its pure state captured in photos has inspired artists and designers from all over the world (…) This camiseta has appeared in innumerable murals and works of art that represent the late sensation of basketball.”

The shirt has become “synonymous with the ‘Mamba Mentality’ of Kobe,” said Brahm Wachter, head of streetwear and modern collectibles at Sotheby’s, in a statement. “The fact that Kobe scored a total of 645 points in 8 months with this shirt, in his unique MVP season, is simply impressive.”

The jury awarded the plaintiffs US$ 31 million in the demand for photos from the Kobe Bryant case

If the shirt sells for US$ 5 to 7 million, according to Sotheby’s estimate, it would be the highest price ever paid for a Bryant shirt, the auction house said.

Another piece from Michael Jordan’s 1998 NBA Finals series, The Last Dance, sold for $10.1 million at Sotheby’s auction in September 2022.

The Bryant shirt will be accompanied by a collection of photos, works of art, books and much more. The lot will be open for pujas from the 2nd to the 9th of February. It will also be exhibited to the public at Sotheby’s New York during the first week of February.
