Alva Jean Keech Shook, 77, of Washington, NC, died Saturday, March 11, 2023, at her home.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 18, 2023, in the Paul Chapel of Washington Funeral Home and Crematory, with Dr. Skipper McLawhorn officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Mrs. Shook was born in Beaufort County on April 17, 1945 to the late James Redden Keech and Gladys Windley Keech. She was a 1963 graduate of Bath High School. On January 2, 2000, she married John A. Schuck. Mrs. Shook was employed at Pamlic Internal Medicine Clinic until her retirement in 2002. She enjoyed cooking, boating, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. She started the Red Hat Club at Cypress Landing. Mrs. Shook was a member of Proctor Memorial Christian Church in Grimesland, NC. She was a bright, energetic, loyal and loving woman. She was kind to everyone.

Survivors include her husband John Austin Shook, one son Chadwick Ray Warren and wife Sandra of Belhaven, stepson Chris Shook of Brooklyn, NY, two grandchildren, Grayson Warren, Samuel Warren, brother Carlton Keach and wife Faye of Athens, Ga., a sister, Sylvia Ratcliffe of Washington, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Redden Keach.
