CLEVELAND (AP) – Cleveland Guardians on Monday exchanged infiltrator Yu Chang at the Pittsburgh Pirates for cash.
Chang was scheduled for appointment last week.
Once promising for Cleveland, the 26-year-old Chang has played in just four games for the Guardians this season and has scored seven times in 10 bats. He also missed time after being included in the COVID-19 list.
Chang beat off 0.228 with nine homers and 39 RBIs in 89 games for Cleveland in 2021. His strong finish – seven homers and 25 RBIs – in the last three months has allowed him to win a job in the utilities this season.
However, Owen Miller’s strong spring training has pushed Chang aside and he will now start a new start with the Pirates.
Chang has beaten 0.208 with 10 homers and 46 IRBs in 131 games over four seasons with Cleveland.
