In the semifinals 4A for boys Union loses to Curtis with a score of 49-40

TACOMA – In the second consecutive state tournament WIAA Union Titans will play for third place.

“Titans” lost to Curtis with a score of 49-40 in Friday’s semifinals in basketball for boys 4A on “Tacoma Doom”.

Union (20-6) was looking for third place in the state championship in program history, winning in 2010 (3A) and finishing second in 2017. Instead at 13:00 on Saturday at 13:00 for third place Union will meet Olympia. The program also took third place in 2020 – the last time the WIAA held a state tournament.

Union and Curtis also met in the 4A semifinals in the two-round semifinals on February 17, when Curtis defeated the Titans 60-57. In this game, Curtis early escaped a big advantage before Union invaded back before Curtis eventually got stuck.

On Friday, Curtis led the start to the finish. The Vikings quickly took the lead with a score of 8-0, making the first three attempts to strike. “Union” was 10 points behind in the first half before reducing the deficit to 25-21 in the break after Bryson Metz kidnapped and sailed.

Union was 32 minutes behind. This reduced the deficit to 43-40 when performing 1 of 2 free throws made by Mets, but after the next possession of a 4-point game by Devin Whitten made an advantage of 47-40 in 1 minute 23 seconds before the end. The Union passed 6 of 15 on the free throw line.

Yani Fassilis led Union with 17 points and seven rebounds. Bryson Metz added 14 points with 5 of 14 shots, and Evan Eschels made 12 rebounds.
