Mr. James Ilsley Baxter Marle, a resident of Pamlico Plantation, Washington, died at his home on Saturday, November 26, 2022. He was 90 years old.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Washington. Burial will follow in the Chapel Garden.

Jay was born in Wallasey, England on June 28, 1932. He was the son of the late Frank James Marle and Sarah Marle. Jay was a retired CPA from American Express. Jay lived and worked in England before moving to the US in 1971. He lived in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey before moving to Washington, North Carolina after his retirement.

After moving to Washington, Jay served as a member, lay reader and treasurer at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. He was a member of the Washington Yacht and Country Club, where he served on the board. He also served on the board of the Beaufort County Arts Council. In his spare time, Jay enjoyed playing golf.

Jay is survived by Bernice, his loving wife of 64 years and family: children Tina Williams (Leon), Tracy Chatlin (Steve) and Simon James Marle (Lisa); his grandchildren, Michael, Kevin, Logan, Trenton and Tyler; his brother Peter Marle (Jackie).
