Junior post-player Reagan Stup scored 24 points, made 14 rebounds and made six interceptions to lead the Pungo Christian Academy girls to a 51-37 victory over the enemy at the conference, the Ridgecroft Academy of Ahoski in the first round of the NCISAA 1A state tournament tournament tonight at home.

Stup, Tar Heel’s Independent Conference Player of the Year, helped the Lady Raiders (17-6) win their sixth straight win and third win over the Rams this season with her fourth double-double in a row.

Abby Cutler scored 11 of 13 points in the second half, Ashley Williford added eight and Cora Noble had six to complete the score.

The fifth-seeded PCA will travel to Merry Hill to meet the fourth-seeded Lawrence Academy in Saturday’s second round, losing all three meetings to its league rival this season.

The Warriors (18-9) won 20-9 in the Christmas tournament game, 31-29 at the PCA and 46-28 at home in the last defeat of the Lady Raiders on 28 January.

The winner advanced to the third round next week in Grace of Sanford, which ranks first.
