Star of Angels Mike Trout is likely to have a big rooting section at Citizens Bank Park all weekend for the series against the Phillies.
Trout hails from the town of Millville in southern Jersey, about an hour’s drive from Philadelphia. The now 30-year-old and in his 12th Premier League season, the three-time MVP has played just two games in Philly – the last time was in 2014 after a scheduled Los Angeles match in 2020 was canceled due to a pandemic.
This week, Trout spoke at Yankee Stadium about how he enjoys returning to the area where he grew up, whether it’s talking to fans about his favorite Eagles or meeting old friends at a Wawa store.
“It’s a pretty special comeback,” he said.
Trout received a blow to the left arm in the ninth inning on Thursday night and seemed to be in considerable pain but remained in the game. Los Angeles failed to secure a base runner for their eighth game against Jameson Taylon and lost 2-1 when the Yankees completed a two-match bout that resulted in the Angels winning a series of eight games – their longest since 2019.

The Angels have won 12 consecutive wins in Philadelphia, the longest active winning streak of any major league team against a single opponent and the longest winning streak in interleague history, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
