More in store for the vacation home tour

It’s that time of year again to enjoy one of Washington’s most anticipated winter events. More than just an open house, the annual Vacation Home Tour takes you inside some of Washington’s most beautiful homes and, for the first time, local Washington businesses. These houses and storefronts will shine with holiday sparkle.
This self-guided tour gives tour-goers an inside look at a wide range of Washington DC neighborhoods, from charming cottages to Victorian homes in historic downtown, to modern additions to Washington’s beautiful and picturesque waterfront districts. The Vacation Homes Tour celebrates the diverse and stunning architecture of many of Washington’s beautiful, unique homes and businesses. “In 2015, I was the first home in the Moss Landing Development and was invited to participate in the vacation home tour,” said Jane Meisel, tour director and owner of Cups and Cones ice cream shop in Washington. Maisel added: “It was a bit scary for me because I had only moved a few months ago, but I accepted the challenge. It was a great experience. When I was asked to oversee the holiday home tour this year, I tried to include businesses, historic sites and charities.’
Guests are welcome to tour the homes at their own leisure on Friday, December 2, from 4 to 8 p.m. Tours begin on Saturday, December 3, at 10:00 a.m. and continue until 4:00 p.m. Each tour features six homes and, new this year, each night features a completely different home! Tickets are available for $20 each night or $30 for both nights at the historic Turnage Arts Theater of the Pamlico, at the Little Shoppes & South Market Antiques at 223 W. Main St. and The Rich Company at 1468 Carolina Ave.
Visitors will be able to show their ticket to take advantage of a variety of dining specials and discounts at participating local restaurants and shops. Don’t forget to see The Nutcracker exhibit at The Rich Company.
Arts of the Pamlico (AOP) is the host and beneficiary of the tour. AOP is a regional arts council that provides a vibrant selection of arts and cultural events at the historic Turnage Theater and Beaufort and Washington counties. AOP welcomes the public to usher in the holiday season with this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see Washington homes decorated and sparkling with holiday warmth and charm, and supported by the Arts Council.
