SEOUL, South Korea — South Korea says North Korea has test-fired a missile from a submarine.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement on Monday that it detected a North Korean submarine-launched missile in waters off the eastern port city of Sinpo on Sunday.
South Korean and US intelligence agencies were analyzing details of the launch, South Korean officials said. This is North Korea’s latest weapons test this year.
Sunday’s launch came before the US and South Korean militaries began large-scale joint military exercises that North Korea sees as a rehearsal for an invasion.
