RALLY, NC (AP) – Kayla Jones has scored 18 points per season, and North Carolina has won the ACC regular season conference title for the first time since 1990, beating Syracuse 95-53 on Sunday.

Which Brown-Turner added 14 points, eight rebounds and six assists in the “Wolf’s Flock” (25-3, 16-1 ACC). Elisa Kunane scored 14 points and nine rebounds.

NC ran away from Syracuse early, jumping to a 28-6 lead in the first quarter. During this period, Jones scored eight points.

Syracuse reduced the deficit to 12 points with a series of 11-0 in the second quarter – a period in which Krislin Carr and Teisha Hyman scored all the points of orange – but Syracuse never threatened to equalize. In the fourth quarter, NC State increased its lead to 45 points.

Carr finished with 14 points, while Naje Murray and Hyman had 12 each at Syracuse (11-15, 4-12).

The key to NC’s victory was its perimeter defense and overall advantage inside. The wolf pack held Syracuse at 25.7% shooting from behind the arc, and surpassed the orange 62-16 in paint, and was ahead of them 59-25.

The big picture

NC State: In addition to securing at least a share of its first regular season crown in 32 years, NC State also took first place in a future ACC tournament. Seed № 1 will give the wolf pack a double farewell. NC has won the last two ACC tournaments.

Syracuse: The defeat of “Wolf’s Flock” was for Syracuse the third in a row and 11th in the last 14 games. The fact that the Oranges are especially good this year is free throws – they enter this game with the third mark in the country of 80.6%. But the pack of wolves did not allow Syracuse to get there often. The Syracuse have executed 4 of 4 free throws, equal to the second in the number of free throws made by the Orange this season.

NEXT

NC: Wolfpack will complete its regular season on February 27 at Virginia Tech.

Syracuse: Wake Forest will host Orange on Thursday.
