The Washington Post is appointing Armario as deputy editor of the America Division

The Washington Post has contributed Christine Armario deputy editor of America desk magazine. It will help expand Post coverage and guide the team to cover corporate and national breaking news.

She previously worked as a deputy editor in a general purpose group and worked at the Miami Herald, where she worked as an editor in Latin America.

There, she launched a project on data on vaccine inequality in Latin America, which won the National Headliner Award for International Reports.

She previously worked for The Associated Press for 12 years and began her career at Newsday.

Armario was the founding president of the NAHJ branch of South Florida and graduated from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
