The woman killed during the Boone homicide investigation in July has been identified

SPOKANE, Wash. – The woman who was killed near Boone and Cedar in July has been identified.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner says Stephanie Stein, 30, died of asphyxiation by strangulation. The forensic examination determined the cause of death to be murder.

Stein’s boyfriend is 29-year-old Corbin J. Hood – reported the girl’s death in July. Spokane police identified Hood as a potential suspect in her murder.

Detectives have established probable cause to arrest Hood, but he is currently being held in a Florida correctional facility on other charges.

Extradition proceedings are pending, and it’s unclear when Hood will return to Washington to face charges of second-degree murder.
