Three students have been selected for a scholarship from the Washington Daily News

From left to right: Chocowinity High School students; Christopher Barber, Eliza Jones and Joanna Sols received scholarships to attend a week-long session with the Little Washington Sailing School this summer.

Cypress Landing Yacht Club annually gives students two scholarships from the sailing school. Students are selected based on an essay they write that explains why they want to learn to swim.

This year, the yacht club chose three students because a record 20 students submitted essays. They decided to add a third recipient because of the large number of essays, said Arlene (AJ) Arafino of the Cypress Landing Yacht Club. Arafina, Sue Zinmerman and Commodore, Skip Vale presented scholarships to Barber, Jones and Sols at the Chocowinity High School Awards Ceremony on Thursday, June 2nd.
