Former President Donald Trump blasted neoconservatives and establishment Republicans on Saturday, saying they would never again derail the GOP as he remade the party.
“With you on my side, we will destroy the deep state. We will expel the warmongers. … We will drive out the globalists, we will drive out the communists. We will overthrow the political class that hates our country,” he said in a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference outside Washington.
The former president said neoconservatives and globalists hate the US and advocate “no walls, no borders, no bad elections, no voter ID.”
“When we started this journey — a journey like no other,” Mr. Trump said — “we had a Republican Party run by freaks, neoconservatives, globalists, open borders and fools. But we will never go back to the party of Paul Ryan, Karl Rove and Jeb Bush.”
Mr. Trump vowed that with him at the helm, the Republican Party would never return to a party that wants to give unlimited money to fight “endless” foreign wars while pushing for cuts to veterans’ benefits and pensions.
