Short-term vacation rentals on Airbnb in Taos, New Mexico, has become very popular for its quiet wilderness and its uniqueness.
And the fact that it invites guests to “experience living off the grid with all the modern conveniences,” according to the Airbnb listing.
The house was built by owner Dan over the course of three years and was “one of the hardest things” they’ve ever done, the listing notes. The owners lived in a tent as they created a residence that looks like a work of art.
“This house is called the Earthship, a completely off-the-grid home that captures its own rainwater, generates its own electricity, and maintains a steady 72 degrees year-round without using fuel or electricity!” the list says.

The house currently has almost five stars with hundreds of positive guest reviews.
“This is a truly unique home and was perfect for our Taos weekend getaway,” said one guest. “It’s about a 20-minute drive outside of Taos, and while being in the Earthship community, it still feels remote and secluded.”
