Dariush Svyader died in an argument with an employee of his Phoenix business over wages, Arizona police said.

David Gordon Sr., 51, told police on Nov. 2 that he shot and killed his 47-year-old boss twice in the head outside the residential complex, reports AZ Family. He faces charges including second-degree murder.

Now two daughters and Svyeder’s ex-wife are left in the mountains.

“Why is that should be you?” asked Janelle Swiader, his ex-wife, according to KNXV.

“We made him whole. He made us whole,” 13-year-old daughter Zofia Swider told the station. Her sister Jaina, 11, said: “I still text him every day.”

Officers found Swider dead in his pickup truck in the parking lot of an apartment complex where he had gone to meet with Gordon to resolve a dispute over pay, police told AZ Family.

Surveillance footage shows the two men talking before Swiader got back into his truck and Gordon shot him, police said. Gordon told officers Swiader threatened to kill him, but police say the video doesn’t support that.

“He had whole life ahead, and this man just took his own life when he had two children, two young children that he was raising, for no reason,” Amelia Urublewski told KSAZ about her uncle.

Gordon is being held on $250,000 bond, according to the station.
