SPOKANE, Wash. — It takes a village to feed a village, especially on Thanksgiving.
Starting at 10 a.m. Thursday, Fresh Soul will be giving away 100 free meals.
“I just want people to know that there are people out there who really want to help people and really want to serve,” said Michael Brown, owner of Fresh Soul. “Because when you can serve without expecting anything in return… then you really understand what it means to serve… we’re just doing God’s work here and that’s it. »
This is the fourth year the East Central restaurant has hosted Thanksgiving.
“God put it on my heart … and you know I’m from this area,” Brown said. “Born and bred in the area, 63 years, and as far as I can see, that’s all there is to give.”
Ribs, fried chicken, potato salad and pot pie are just a few items on the menu. Brown has been preparing since last week and explained his favorite part, however, is what he can accomplish with the help of the community.
“My favorite part is watching people open up the food and see what’s inside,” Brown said.
Each of the 100 dishes will have an envelope with the inscription “Thank God”. It includes a gift card.
“Because God made it possible,” Brown said.
