SPOKANE, Wash. — The Gonzaga women’s soccer team (10-3-5, 5-1-3 West Coast Conference) won its final game of the regular season 2-0 at Luger Field.

GU dominated against Portland. They outshot the Pilots 17-13, taking 10 more corners than the Pilots. The Zags held the ball, with a clear 60 percent possession of the ball. They had 2/3 of that possession on the attacking side.

GU’s Hannah Gray scored a long-range goal in the 15th minute, the freshman’s third goal of the season.

About 20 minutes later, Paige Alexander scored on a corner kick from Willow Collins, her second assist of the game, to make it 2-0.

Goalkeeper Lisa Bosselman earned her 20th shutout, second all-time in program history. She scored 13 goals this season, the fewest in a season by the GU women’s soccer program. The senior has allowed just 47 goals in her career, which is also the program record for fewest goals allowed.

Bosselmann, along with nine of her teammates, were honored on senior night. The Zags’ 2022 class had the highest winning percentage in a four-year span.

Saturday night’s win against Portland matched their best WCC finish in program history. This is the 10th time the program has won 10 games in a season and the fifth time in the last six seasons that GU has won 10 games. The only exception was the shortened season in the spring of 2021.

This Zags team had the best conference finish by winning percentage in program history. There is a chance that this team will make it to the NCAA tournament and compete for a national title.
