SHARM EL SHEIKH, Egypt (AP) — The latest at COP27, this year’s annual U.N. climate change summit.

World leaders called for tougher action on global warming on Tuesday, as calls for fossil fuel companies to help pay for the damage they have caused to the planet grew louder at this year’s international climate talks in Egypt. US midterm elections hung over Tuesday’s talks, and many environmental campaigners worried that a Democratic defeat could make it more difficult for President Joe Biden to implement his ambitious climate agenda.
