Mrs. Lois Cutler Perry, age 86, of River Acres, WA, died Thursday, November 3, 2022, at her home.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 6, 2022, at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, with Pastor Jillian Pollock officiating.

Mrs. Perry was born in Beaufort County on April 16, 1936, in a two-story white house on the “Y” Camp Leach Road. She was the daughter of the late Lloyd Edmond Cutler and Clara Mildred Cutler. Mrs. Perry graduated from Bath High School. She loved to tell stories about playing basketball for the Pirates and laughed when she recalled being voted “Biggest Flirt.” Lois spent most of her life as a mother. Later, she was a bookkeeper for the family business, LC Perry and Son, Inc. in Washington. Mrs. Perry was a member of the First Christian Church in Washington. She was a member and president of CWF, a deacon and a circle member. Lois loved to travel. She traveled to different countries on many continents. She cherished those experiences, but happily returned to her home on the Pamlica River, where she sat on her porch swing. Lois found great joy in her role as a grandmother, where her name became “Mimsy.” She arranged her schedule so that she could attend her grandchildren’s sporting events and performances. It was not uncommon for Mimsey to stay until the last inning of a health league game, despite the late hour. In her free time, she enjoyed skiing, reading, hiking, and growing flowers and plants.

On May 7, 1955, Mrs. Perry married Herbert Allen Perry, who preceded her in death on September 6, 2021. She was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Laurie Perry Cullop.

Mrs. Perry is survived by a son, Herbert Allen Perry Jr. and wife Sandra of Washington; her daughter, Tricia Stowe and husband Lenz of Washington; grandchildren, Matthew Allen Perry and wife, Georgia of Washington; Tommy Cullop and wife Michelle of Ft. Collins, Colorado; Kelly P. Brady and husband Adam of Lillington; Steven P. Cullop of Longmont, Colorado; Dr. Haley B. Stowe of St. Louis, MO; Erin Cutler Stowe of Greensboro, NC and her fiance Michael Blackmon of Ayden, NC; great-grandchildren, Brycen Allen Perry, Nora Mae Brady, Cutler Riggs Brady, Leah M. Caton-Braddock, Nathaniel T. Braddock, Madison B. Caton; sister, Evelyn Nelson of Kinston, sister-in-law Doris Cutler of Washington and many nieces and nephews.

Lois’ last months were an adventure thanks to the upbeat spirit of Sylvia Joyner of Greenville, North Carolina. The two often turned heads at local daycares, shops and eateries when they dressed up as twins. The family also appreciates the loving care of Melvin Smith, Sylvia Guilford and Carolyn Hopkins.

The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, 1209 Brown Street, Washington, NC 27889, or to the Bath High School Memorial, PO Box 149, Bath, NC 27808.
