Washougal’s first football playoff game at Fishback Stadium in nearly 30 years will have to wait another day.
Washougalo’s District 2A playoff against Shelton was moved to 5 p.m. Saturday at Fishback Stadium after the Highclimbers had travel problems in Friday’s storm.
Washougal athletic director Brian Wild said one of Shelton’s buses broke down. The Highclimbers were then stuck in traffic after U.S. Highway 101 was closed south of Shelton due to a crash Friday afternoon.
According to the Washington Department of Transportation, one of the possible detours, State Highway 108, faced longer delays due to downed trees.
Washougal last hosted a playoff game at Fishback in 1994, when the Panthers lost to Aberdeen 10-6 in the Class AA district playoffs on a dirt field.
Two more playgrounds had to be moved to grass fields on Friday as heavy rains hit the region.
Castle Rock moved its District 1A playoff game against Eatonville from Castle Rock to Schroeder Field at Kells High School on Friday.
Mark Morris announced that his 2A district playoff game against Black Hills of Tumwater on Saturday will be moved from Longview Memorial Stadium to Woodland High School. The start will remain at 15.00
