Customs and Border Protection agents working at the World Trade Bridge border crossing in Laredo, Texas, seized nearly 119 pounds of cocaine worth more than $1.5 million, the agency said Wednesday.

“This is a great capture of our officers who work at CBP cargo facilities. This is a great example of their continued vigilance in securing our nation’s borders and protecting legitimate trade and travel,” said Laredo Port of Entry Director Albert Flores.

On Tuesday, a tractor-trailer carrying plastic wrap was directed to a secondary inspection on the World Trade Bridge between Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, and Laredo, Texas.

After a search using a dog team, CBP officers found just over 118 pounds of cocaine hidden inside the trailer. The value of the seized drugs is estimated at $1.5 million.

Homeland Security agents in San Antonio are continuing to investigate the bust, according to the agency.
